The PA in the Centre’s name stands for Psychic Awareness, and this area is well covered with workshops, courses and demonstrations from local and visiting mediums. However, Paul and the team are anxious to emphasise that you don’t need to have any religious or spiritual associations to come to the Centre and access its services or just enjoy food, drink and company in the beautifully appointed Café Zen. The Centre’s doors are open to everyone, and more people are finding their way here every day.
Paul Hamnett (Founder)
Paul Hamnett, originally from Stoke-on-Trent, has swapped retirement plans for a new purpose, opening the Psychic Awareness (PA) Community and Wellbeing Centre in Los Montesinos, Alicante. After moving to Spain with his wife and son over 20 years ago, Paul has now created a hub for healing, learning, and spiritual development. The centre runs full-time with a team of staff and volunteers, offering therapies such as reiki, massage, acupuncture, physiotherapy, hypnotherapy, and sound vibration treatments using advanced equipment. It also hosts mediumship demonstrations, workshops, healing sessions, and private consultations. Paul’s spiritual path has been lifelong, though not always obvious. As a child, he played music for the Fenton Spiritualist Church band without understanding the spiritual side. His sister worked at Longton Library, opposite the Spiritualist Church, where she connected with well-known medium Gordon Higginson. Paul recalls his first spirit visitor at age eight, an experience that stayed with him. After moving to Spain, Paul first bought a business but always felt drawn back to spiritual work. Over time, spirit messages encouraged him to develop his mediumship, leading him to create a centre where people could gather, heal, and learn together. He sees the centre as a place to support both practical and spiritual needs: “We want to provide what people need to make the rest of their life here in Spain, practically and spiritually,” he explained. The PA Centre has already enjoyed success. The first major event featured UK medium Gareth Lewis, who attracted full audiences with his demonstrations of mediumship. Helen Richardson, another team member, regularly brings in healers and teachers for courses, workshops, and weekly services. Importantly, the centre operates on a freewill donation basis for Sunday services and healing, ensuring accessibility for everyone regardless of financial circumstances. Paul’s future plans include opening more healing centres in both Spain and the UK: “My intention is to make a success of this centre along with my fellow associates.” With growing community support and a welcoming environment, the PA Community and Wellbeing Centre is becoming a vibrant spiritual and healing hub on the Costa Blanca.
Paul is delighted with the contribution the PA Community and Wellbeing Centre is making to health and happiness locally in Los Montesinos and beyond. People come for healing from miles away – Murcia, Benidorm, Pinoso, Orihuela Costa, to name but a few places where the Centre reaches those who need us. In fact, people who know of the Centre through friends or from finding us online call ahead and book healing sessions while they’re here on holiday. We estimate that, through our services, circles, individual and distance healing, we help at least 40 individuals each week, possibly many more. Every day, new people find us, and every day, we offer healing to whoever asks for it. While it’s best if an appointment is arranged, so we can be sure there are enough healers available, we’ll never turn away anyone in need of healing.
